Important Security Notice: Protect Your Devices from Malware



  • All users are requested to ensure digital safety, and take the following critical steps to protect your devices from malware. Implementing these measures can significantly enhances your security against various cyber threats and protect your data.
  • (i) Regular Updates: Always keep your operating system, browsers, plugins, and other software updated to the latest versions. These updates often include vital security patches that protect your device against new threats.
  • (ii) Remove Unauthorized Software: Uninstall any unauthorized or legacy software from your devices. Outdated or unsupported softwares can be an easy target for malware.
  • (iii) Strengthen Your Defenses: Enable your firewall and consider installing robust anti-malware, anti-ransomware, and anti-exploit software. These tools provide essential protection against a wide range of cyber attacks.
  • (iv) Regular System Scans: Configure your security software to perform regular system scans. This practice helps in early detection and removal of potential threats.
  • (v) Network Security: Disable any unnecessary network ports and services on your devices to reduce the risk of unauthorized access and malware infection.
  • (vi) Updated Antivirus: Users needs to scan the systems with an updated antivirus. If any malware is found, the devices need to be thoroughly cleansed, preferably by hard formatting. Thereafter the password of the id needs to be changed from a computer which is Virus/malware free.
  • (vii) Phishing Emails: NIC/ DGE does not solicit the username and passwords through any URL sent via emails.The users must be sensitized not to enter their user name and password through such links.
  • (ix) OS Update: The Operating Systems of the devices used must be updated with the latest patches.
  • (x) Key loggers, if any, must be removed from the systems.
  • (xi) Removal of Unwanted Applications: Please ensure that remote desktop applications (like Anydesk) are not installed in the systems.
